When you make your first appointment, you will be emailed intake paperwork and consent forms to be filled out online. This paperwork must be completed within 48 hours or your scheduled appointment may be cancelled. If you do not receive the email within a few hours of scheduling your appointment, check your spam folder. If it is not there, contact me as soon as possible and I will resend it.

Prior to each of your sessions, you will be emailed a unique link to connect virtually over video using a HIPAA-compliant platform. If using a computer, all you need is that link. If using a smartphone or tablet, you’ll be directed to download a free app.

Your first therapy session will be spent getting to know you, your history, your current struggles, and what you hope to get out of therapy. We will discuss setting realistic goals. Please feel free to ask questions and bring up concerns at any time. Sessions will typically last 45-55 minutes.

Many people ask how many sessions they will need, but there is no easy answer! Some people need just a few sessions, and some people are in therapy on and off for their whole lives, though many people fall in between. It is a very individualized experience, depending on many factors such as each person’s needs, personality, and history. Therapy is designed to help clients understand how their feelings and thoughts affect the ways they act, react, and relate to others. Whether or not therapy is successful depends a great deal on the client’s willingness and ability to experience all relationships deeply, especially in the therapeutic relationship.

I will provide a welcoming, compassionate, non-judgmental environment, and at times, you may find that I will challenge you. You might find yourself crying or laughing in therapy, or feeling angry, sad, relaxed, apprehensive, relieved, afraid, or anxious. All emotions are welcome and valid!
